It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the Science & Geopolitics of Himalaya-Arctic-Antarctic (SaGHAA) international Webinar on 'Managing the Polar Oceans Sustainably' on September 28-29, 2020 (4 to 7 pm IST on both the days). The event will be organised online on the GoToWebinar platform.
The 6th SaGHAA conference is scheduled to be held in March 2021. However, as a run-up to the main conference, an International Webinar on Polar Oceans is being held keeping in mind that the United Nations has proclaimed a Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) to support efforts to reverse the cycle of decline in ocean health and gather ocean stakeholders worldwide behind a common framework that will ensure that ocean science can fully support countries in creating improved conditions for sustainable development of the Ocean.
HE Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, former president of Iceland and James Gray, Member of Parliament, United Kingdom have kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest and Guest of honour respectively for the event.
Dr M. Ravichandran, Director, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa and Dr Nalan Koc, Director Research, Norwegian Polar Institute, Tromsø, Norway are the organising chairs for the SaGHAA Webinar 2020. We expect over 1000 participants to join us for the SaGHAA Webinar 2020, including delegates from all institutions that have active polar, oceanic and climate change programmes.
