A Message from the Arctic Encounter Symposium Team
Nearly two years ago, we canceled our 2020 production due to COVID-19. We have missed this convening, the work it inspires, and the people it brings together from around the world. We believe in coming together to learn from one another, to engage challenges, and to debate solutions. We value the celebration of culture, the arts, and the powerful voices of those who have lived experiences beyond our own.
We now return to this work in 2022 with refreshed vision and clarity. And this year, as an Alaska-based non-profit entity, we feel it is important to bring our flagship annual symposium home to Alaska, in Anchorage. We look forward to announcing partners, new exhibits, and many exciting opportunities for the April 2022 Anchorage production in the coming weeks and months. We invite you to join us in working collaboratively to raise awareness, provide a new platform for voices and expertise in Anchorage, and elevate Alaska to be a leading U.S. diplomatic and Arctic policy stage in the Far North — today and long into the future.
As AES approaches, we are assessing all public health-related information available for travelers, both domestic and international, and are monitoring CDC recommendations and science-based COVID-19 mitigation policies for in-person gatherings. We will announce more details regarding our COVID-19 mitigation efforts in the coming months.
We hope you'll join us in April 2022 in Anchorage.
