WDS Open Climate Campaign Endorsement
World Data System is proud to join international organizations and open-access advocates to endorse and promote the Open Climate Campaign. To make open sharing of research outputs the norm in climate science, Creative Commons, SPARC, and EIFL launched a 4-year Open Climate Campaign in August 2022 with funding from Arcadia, which built on planning funds from the Open Society Foundations.
Climate change and the resulting harm to our global biodiversity is one of the world’s most pressing challenges. While the existence of climate change and the resulting loss of biodiversity is certain, knowledge and data about these global challenges and the possible solutions, mitigations, and actions to tackle them are too often not publicly accessible.
The WDS, alongside many researchers, governments, and global environmental organizations recognizes the importance of sharing research openly to accelerate progress in combating climate change through facilitating effective knowledge sharing and collaboration across disciplinary and geographic borders.
WDS looks forward to contributing to the campaign goals and the climate change conversation by providing the partnership with direct, hands-on support to open access to knowledge about climate change and biodiversity preservation.
One way of contributing is to encourage members and partners to participate in the campaign when the opportunity arises. Make sure to share with WDS if you engage so we can also highlight your efforts. WDS will also contribute by sharing information on social media and hosting at least one webinar per year on data and the open climate campaign and on how to identify progressive actions in climate conversations.

Office hours give our members the ability to connect with WDS staff regarding upcoming projects, outreach, and trends in data. The conversation is wide open, and we want to talk to you about how we can help meet your needs and advocate for you.
The open office hour will be on 10 April from 1:00 to 2:00 PM UTC.
There is no need for registration, and you can stop by for just five to ten minutes (or more!) as your schedule allows.

Welcome to ITO Andrea
WDS-ITO has hired Andrea Budac in a new position as a Data Science Developer. Andrea is a recent graduate of the joint Master of Arts and Education degree in Digital Humanities and Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science with a minor in Anthropology.
During her time at the University of Alberta, Andrea used her multidisciplinary background to support research teams with software development and data management. This experience will be brought into her new position at the WDS-ITO.
HICSS-58 Call for Papers - Software Sustainability: Research on Usability, Maintainability, and Reproducibility Minitrack
This minitrack is dedicated to exploring the critical intersection of software usability, sustainability, and reproducibility, acknowledging the expanding role of software in shaping research across diverse domains. The three concepts are interconnected with each other and cover a wide range of application areas. They affect all layers of the software process – from enabling reproducing experiments via an easy user interface to using containerization for application portability. Such concepts are also relevant in the building of Science Gateways (also known as virtual laboratories or virtual research environments), which by definition serve communities with end-to-end solutions tailored specifically to their needs. The mini-track will focus on the broad spectrum of submissions that deal with complex scenarios such as containerization, strategies for long-lasting software, usability and user interface issues, handling data curation and provenance, and more.

Call for Nominations for the 2024 Stein Rokkan Prize
The annual Stein Rokkan Prize for Comparative Social Science Research is presented by the International Science Council, the University of Bergen, and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR). Thanks to the generosity of the University of Bergen, it carries a prize fund of €5,000.
The prize is open to works in comparative studies from all social science disciplines. It is given to a submission deemed by the Jury to be a substantial and original contribution to comparative social science research.

Call for Applications to Join the IUIS Gender Equality Committee
The Gender Equality Committee (GEC) of the IUIS is working to improve gender equity in the immunology discipline worldwide.
They are calling for nominations to join the GEC, with the aim of equal representation of all genders coming from all geographic areas of member societies, which will help best serve all immunological societies globally. For this purpose, share this call with WDS members and to send nominations of interested and engaged immunologists by filling out the attached “Expression of Interest form”. Please note that this form needs to be filled out by the candidate. Prospective new members must demonstrate experience and/or expertise in gender equity policy, advocacy, or research.

DCMI 2024: Call for Participation - Metadata Innovation: Trust, Transformation, and Humanity
DCMI 2024, the twenty-second International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, invites researchers, practitioners, and experts from diverse domains to explore the dynamic landscape of metadata in the theme of Trust, Transformation, and Humanity. The fast-paced advances in artificial intelligence (AI) create new research fronts for metadata.
While AI can bring benefits to research, learning, and society at large, it has also supercharged deepfake content that is used for nefarious purposes. DCMI 2024 serves as a unique platform for the discussion of "innovative research and practice" - presenting visions for future metadata development and solutions to practical metadata problems. Join researchers, practitioners, and experts from a wide range of sectors in a collaborative exploration of metadata's evolving role through your papers, posters, panel discussions, best practice reports, workshops, and more. DCMI 2024 will feature exclusively in-person meetings.
Under the conference theme Metadata Innovation: Trust, Transformation, and Humanity, the DCMI 2024 conference welcomes submissions on a list of topics. At least one author of an accepted submission must be physically present at the conference to present the work in person (*except the student forum). All submissions must use the official DCPapers template for DCMI conference proceedings.

Call for Nominations for the 2024 Tuba (Turkish Academy of Sciences) Academy Prizes
Nominations for 2024 TÜBA Academy Prizes, launched in 2015 in appreciation and encouragement of eminent scientists, are now open and will be continued until 3 May. TÜBA Academy Prizes are annually awarded to the nominated scientists in one of the following categories of sciences:
- Basic and Engineering Sciences,
- Health and Life Sciences and
- Social Sciences and Humanities.
TÜBA Academy Prizes are given to those scientists with original, leading, and path-breaking works in their fields. Nominations are made by TÜBA members, science academies, inter-academy organizations, and other science institutions related to TÜBA.

SIG-III Call for Applications: International Paper Contest 2024
The Special Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIG-III) of the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) invites research papers from library and information science (LIS) professionals of developing countries for the 24th International Paper Contest (IPC). The winners of the IPC 2024 will be awarded in the 87th Annual Meeting of ASIS&T, which will take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from 25-29 October 2024.
The theme of the Annual Meeting is "Putting People First: Responsibility, Reciprocity, and Care in Information Research and Practice”. The purpose of this contest is to encourage researchers from developing countries to share their work globally.
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts, not to exceed 5,000 words, by 15 April via the submission form as a Microsoft Word Document.

Oscars 1st Open Call for Open Science Projects and Services
OSCARS will run a cycle of 2 Open Calls. Each call will remain open for proposal submission for sixty days. All proposals must be submitted using the online application form through the OSCARS grants platform and confirmed with a timestamped, Submission Receipt email sent to the email address registered at the time of submitting the proposal. Any proposals not confirmed with the timestamped Submission Receipt email will not be accepted.
The call aims to support researchers engaging in or developing Open Data Research by conducting science projects that facilitate and foster the sharing of research data and results based on FAIR principles. Proposals that develop and/or make available services or tools (software; hardware; middleware; protocols; standards; benchmarks; documentation and training/mentoring materials; activities and resources) that enable Open Research, and encourage open science practice based on FAIR principles, are also eligible.
The 1st call with OSCARS is open now until 15 May.

Call for Papers: International CLADA-BG Conference 2024
The third edition of the CLaDA-BG Conference will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 26-28 June 2024. CLaDA-BG is the Bulgarian national research infrastructure for resources and technologies for linguistic, cultural, and historical heritage, integrated within CLARIN and DARIAH. Its mission is to provide access to the necessary resources and technologies that support research in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Modeling and linking various types of knowledge and its contexts is crucial for successful research in the interdisciplinary field of resources and technologies related to language, culture, and history.
The conference aims to bring together Natural Language Processing (NLP) developers, linguists, digital humanitarians, scholars, and all parties interested in knowledge modeling and linking data for research.
Two types of submissions are welcomed: abstracts and full papers.
