Registration open for UArctic Congress 2026 and Ocean Connectivity Conference

Registration is now open for the UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference, taking place from 26–29 May 2026 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. Visit the UArctic Congress website to register. The registration fees are:

  • Early bird: €550 (until 31 March)
  • Regular registration: €700 (from 1 April)
  • Student rate: €375

Thematic Networks Monthly Hightlights

The January 2026 edition of the Thematic Networks' Monthly Highlights showcases the work of several networks engaged in collaborative research, education, and outreach activities across the Circumpolar North. January Highlights include: Arctic Boreal Hub; Arctic Migration; Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design (ASAD); Decolonization of Arctic Library and Archives Metadata (DALAM); Gender in the Arctic Knowledge Production; Permafrost; Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education.

 

Student Highlight

Fifth American Arctic Connection Intern joins the International Secretariat in Rovaniemi

Mia Filardi's internship will last from February to June, 2026. This internship is made possible through a collaboration between the US Embassy in Helsinki, the University of Lapland and UArctic. Now in its third year, this internship was designed to facilitate bilateral communications and connections between the US and Finland in the field of Arctic relations. Mia will be focused on planning of upcoming UArctic events, as well as coordinating events for Americans at ULapland, and serving as the liaison between the US Embassy and UArctic

 

New intern has joined the UArctic International Secretariat

With the support from UArctic Travel Grant, Alena Fedotova from Tampere University attended Arctic Circle Assembly. She participated in a session organised by APECS Canada, U.K. Polar Network, KOARC, Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), and Uarctic, where she shared her experience of participating in the Korean Arctic Academy in Busan in July 2025.
