Arctic Oil and Gas: Understanding Responsibility and Liability

The Arctic is estimated to hold the world’s largest remaining untapped gas reserves and some of its largest undeveloped oil reserves. Developing these resources in the harsh Arctic environment will be complex and challenging and could have far-reaching consequences. At this seminar, three experienced scholars of international law will examine the remedies available in case of damage to either the environment, the people who live there, or both.

Thursday January 14th, 2-4 pm at Reykjavik University, Room M209.

The event is organised by the School of Law, Reykjavik University and the Polar Law Programme, University of Akureyri, with support from the Embassy of Canada in Iceland.
