The Trent-Yukon Model Arctic Council 1 Conference (TRYKOMAC) for universities - Make a journey into the far North - will be held online 24 – 26 March 2021.
The Conference
Polar Aspect’s TRYKOMAC is one of the only Model Arctic Councils in the world today designed primarily for undergraduates. Students play the roles of delegates from Arctic states and, unusually in model diplomacy, indigenous peoples. Their challenge is to negotiate unanimous consensus on some of the most pressing questions facing not only the Arctic and its communities, but by extension our world as a whole.
The Arctic
Today, as the global climate changes, the Arctic is one of the most fascinating and important regions on the planet. More than a pristine wilderness or treasure chest of natural riches, it is in fact an ancient homeland. Unlike other international fora, the Arctic Council formally brings together not only the countries of the Arctic, but also Arctic indigenous peoples, in order to build consensus on difficult issues.
Online
Polar Aspect are delighted to collaborate with Trent University and Yukon University to offer TRYKOMAC to students from all over the world. In order to facilitate broad participation despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, Trent will host TRYKOMAC 2021 on their online learning platform. Students from Trent, Yukon, UArctic member institutions, and other partner universities are invited to register for TRYKOMAC.
Registration and more information can be found at Trykomac.
Note that registration closes on Wednesday February 24th.
