Russia has handed over their chairmanship in the Arctic Council to Norway.
Today, May 11th Russia handed over their chairmanship in the Arctic Council to Norway. The event was held today in Salekhard, Russia in an online format with only delegates from the member states and the PP´s taking part.
The Russian chairmanship has since February 2022 been severely affected by the Geopolitical situation. There is therefore much uncertainty regarding the way forward under the leadership of Norway from 2023-2025.
Following the handover to Norway Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council under the Russian Chairmanship, Nikolay Korchunov held a press conference.
