Today, a significant bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of energy and climate affairs is to be introduced during a meeting in Iceland between Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Iceland's Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate, and Jennifer Granholm, the United States' Secretary of Energy.
This collaboration will center on geothermal energy, carbon dioxide absorption, storage, and utilization, as well as hydrogen production. Its primary objective is to facilitate cooperation among stakeholders in these domains, empowering them to achieve climate-related goals swiftly. The aim is to expedite the reduction of carbon emissions, fortify energy security, and pioneer ways to harness renewable energy.
As a consequence, in line with and to enhance this agreement, the Arctic Energy Forum will be held in October 2024 focusing on Arctic energy issues. The forum will be organized by Arctic Portal and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) in cooperation with Icelandic, US, and international leading partners.
