CNARC Fellowship2024The China-Nordic Arctic Research (CNARC) is preparing to launch its Fellowship Program for the year 2024. The Fellowship Program has enjoyed a decade of success since its inception in 2014-2015, albeit with a pause due to the pandemic.

In this upcoming round of applications, CNARC aims to award fellowships to two Nordic and two Chinese candidates respectively. These fellows will have the opportunity to advance their own research projects aligned with CNARC’s research priorities. The program will span a period of 1-2 months, during which fellows will be hosted by institutes within CNARC’s network.

The fellowship program serves as a platform for outstanding researchers from China and the Nordic states to collaborate within the framework of the China-Nordic Arctic Research Center (CNARC). It allows researchers to pursue their projects while contributing to a deeper understanding of the Arctic and its significance for both China and the Nordic region.

This presents a significant opportunity for research fellows and young scholars. Interested candidates should submit their applications no later than 30 April 2024, along with a recommendation letter from a CNARC Member Institute. Successful applicants will be expected to undertake their fellowships between September 1st, 2024, and June 30th, 2025.

Fellowship Standards:

Fellows are encouraged to conduct research projects aligned with CNARC’s priorities, which include:

  1. Arctic climate change and its impacts
  2. Arctic resources, shipping, and economic cooperation
  3. Arctic policy-making and legislation

The duration of the fellowship is 1-2 months, with the following requirements:

  1. Submission of an academic research report (3,000 words) no later than 3 months after completion of the fellowship, to be accessible within CNARC’s Member Institutes. Fellows are encouraged to pursue peer-reviewed publications based on their research findings, acknowledging CNARC’s sponsorship.
  2. Initiatives for academic exchanges among CNARC member institutes (e.g., lectures, presentations, workshops, etc.).
  3. Research projects should also seek funding from sources other than CNARC.
  4. Active participation and contribution to CNARC symposiums, publications, etc., are strongly encouraged.

Candidate shall submit the application and related documents by email to the Secretariat of CNARC no later than 30 April 2024.
