Arctic Circle Rome Forum 2026 - Polar DialogueAmong the attendees are ministers and senior officials from several countries, including the foreign ministers of Greenland, Finland and Italy. Policymakers, scientists, business leaders and representatives of international organizations will also take part in the discussions.

The Forum will feature more than 50 sessions addressing a broad spectrum of Arctic and polar issues. Key topics on the agenda include climate change, security and defense matters, scientific research, sustainable development, and international cooperation. Discussions will explore the accelerating environmental changes in the Arctic, growing geopolitical interest in the region, and the role of science and diplomacy in shaping its future.

A special Polar Dialogue will be held at the historic headquarters of the Italian National Academy of Sciences, originally founded centuries ago by Galileo Galilei and other pioneers of science. The session will be chaired by Katrín Jakobsdóttir, former Prime Minister of Iceland and Chair of the Polar Dialogue. The event is intended to foster high-level discussion on the interconnected challenges facing the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

The Forum will be formally opened at the headquarters of the Italian National Research Council by Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, Chairman of Arctic Circle, together with Italy’s Minister of Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.

On the morning of March 5, a concluding symposium will be held at the Vatican Gardens, where approximately 50 selected participants will present key outcomes and reflections from the Forum. The event will take place at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and will be chaired by Cardinal Peter Turkson.

International media outlets including BBC, Associated Press and Bloomberg have confirmed their attendance, underlining the growing global attention to Arctic affairs.
