In the Arctic Science Ministerial Meeting, ASM4, held today April 14th in Sankt Petersburg, the Russian Chairmanship to the Arctic Council introduced the Ministerial report.

On April 12, chefs of the Boaššu/NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab presented food for the participants of the Regional Nordic Forum which took place in Kautokeino on April 12 and 13, 2023. ICR Director Anders Oskal welcomed participants of the Forum and shared information about Boaššu/NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab and its plans. Chefs Alfred Larsen and Alena Gerasimova prepared reindeer dishes such as smoked meat, liver, heart, kidneys, reindeer pancakes etc.

The peer-reviewed journal Advances in Polar Science (APS) published Issue 34(1) in March 2023. The latest issue covers six articles, the titles and highlights of which are presented below. All the latest and previous papers are available online and can be downloaded freely, thanks to generous funding from the Polar Research Institute of China. All the Advances in Polar Science volumes are also being uploaded to the Arctic Portal library as well as the publication library on the China-Nordic Research Centre website at www.cnarc.info for the benefit of our valuable readers, courtesy of the Arctic Portal team, and can also be searched, viewed and downloaded from either site. In accordance with the plan to implement the program of Russia's Chairmanship in the Arctic Council the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education will be holding a Fourth Arctic Science Ministerial (ASM4) in St. Petersburg on 14-15 April 2023.

The International Conference on Climate Change and Melting of the Permafrost will take place in Yakutsk on 22 – 24 March 2023 organized by the Committee of the Russian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council.
The conference will be organized in a hybrid format both personal attendance and online participation is welcomed.

Nominations are now open for the 2023 Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award. The goal is to further the development of new ideas that could contribute materially to preventing, mitigating, adapting, and reversing the effects of climate change in the Arctic.

The Arctic Circle Japan Forum starts tomorrow in Tokyo, from March 4 to 6. The Forum will feature over 100 speakers from 20+ countries in more than 50 sessions. Among the participants are ministers, members of the National Diet of Japan, ambassadors, scientists as well as representatives from Asia, Europe, the United States, Indigenous communities and the private sector.

The Ministry of Education of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) on the premises of the International Arctic School of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in co-operation with its partners is delighted to be hosting the Second Annual All-Russia Scientific and Practical Conference of schoolchildren with international participation “The Arctic – the Territory of Cooperation”. The Conference will be held from April 14 to 15, 2023.
