The Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) was founded in 1983 in place of the Marine Station in Sopot which had existed since 1953.
The mission of the Institute of Oceanology PAN is to seek, understand, and communicate the scientific understanding of the marine environment and the issues related to its protection and sustainable use. IO PAN scientists and engineers achieve this by carrying out innovative, high-level scientific and technological research that further enhances our understanding of the environment, and provides expertise and new technologies which are then shared with the broader public and interested parties from the public and private sector. The Institute of Oceanology conducts scientific research in the Baltic Sea and in the seas of the European Arctic.
was created in 1984 under the Arctic Research and Policy Act of 1984 (). The act called for a comprehensive national policy focused on research needs and objectives in the Arctic. It established and its sibling organization, the Arctic Research Commission (), to help implement the act.
The International Arctic Systems for Observing the Atmosphere (IASOA) coordinates the activities of individual Arctic observatories to provide a collaborative international network for Arctic atmospheric research and operations. This research includes researchers and scientists from many different institutions across the world. Much of the Arctic data collection is done by individual observatories, scattered across the Arctic, which are sponsored by Arctic nations. These nations include Norway, Russia, Greenland, Canada, U.S., and Finland. The observatories support a plethora of Arctic research objectives.
The International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) was established by the Norwegian Government in 2005 in Kautokeino, as a contribution to the unique international cooperation of circumpolar reindeer herding peoples. ICR is an independent professional unit, with its own board and budget. Its core funding is provided by the Norwegian Government through annual grants from the budget of the Ministry of Reform and Government Administration.
ICR is to be a knowledge base for providing, exchanging and developing information and knowledge between different reindeer peoples, national authorities and research- and academic communities at the national and international levels. The Centre will thus contribute to adding value, to improving information and to enhancing understanding for world reindeer husbandry and reindeer peoples, their traditional knowledge and their future development.

The International Polar Foundation supports polar scientific research for the advancement of knowledge, the promotion of informed action on climate change, and the development of a sustainable society.
Founded by Belgian polar explorer Alain Hubert, Prof. Hugo Decleir and Prof. André Berger in 2002, the Brussels-based International Polar Foundation provides a novel interface between science and society, and was recognised by Belgian Royal Statute as a foundation for the public good in 2002. HM King Philippe is the International Polar Foundation's honorary president.
The Foundation seeks to bring about a keener appreciation of the role of science, particularly research in the Polar Regions, through a re-examination of the planet’s interconnections, its fragility, the impact of human actions on the environment, and the evolution of millennial climate cycles.
The Korea Maritime Institute is a government-funded research institute established under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office to contribute to the formulation of national policies in maritime and fisheries affairs to boost the national economy.
Established in 2004, the Korea Polar Research Institute located in Songdo, Incheon, is the lead agency for South Korea's national polar program for the Arctic and the Antarctic and an advisor to the Government of South Korea. Its research projects have focused on biodiversity, climate change and geological evolution
The “Malaurie Institute of Arctic Research – Monaco-UVSQ” (MIARC) is dedicated to the study of Professor Jean Malaurie's circumpolar work and research in the Arctic Humanities. Its activities are inspired by and valorize the Arctic collections of Jean Malaurie, France's most distinguished Arctic specialist, donated by him in 2021 to the Institute of Oceanography/Foundation Prince Albert I of Monaco and Jean Malaurie's extensive circumpolar scientific oeuvre and writings, as well as the egalitarian spirit of Terre Humaine, the prestigious book series of narrative ethnography and testimonies founded by Malaurie at Plon Publishers in 1955.

The Nansen Center is a Norwegian environmental institute, organised as an independent foundation. Its core activity is research and development directed at physical and biological conditions in their near sea areas, in the Arctic, and globally. In its research work, they use data from direct measurements and from satellites, and advanced models and methods to understand and forecast changes in the marine environment and climate.
The CNRS is a major player in basic research on the global stage and the only organisation in France that is active in all fields of science. Its unique position as a specialist in multiple fields means that it can bring together different scientific disciplines to shed light on and gain insight into current global challenges, in partnership with public sector, social and economic stakeholders. Together the sciences are used to bring about sustainable progress that benefits the whole of society.
National Institute of Polar Research, Japan, NIPR, based in Tokyo, is the research institute responsible for scientific research and observation of the polar regions. NIPR manages several observation stations in the Arctic and Antarctica. It was founded in 1973.
