The Arctic Risk platform developed by the Arctic Basecamp was launched today at the COP26. Arctic Basecamp is a team of Arctic experts and scientists who bring a message of Arctic risk to encourage bold climate action.

During the European Polar Board’s Autumn 2021 Plenary Meeting, held 27-29th October, Nicole Biebow, Member Representative for the Helmholtz Association, Germany, was elected as the new EPB Chair. Nicole will serve as Chair for an initial term until Autumn 2023, having previously completed two full terms as a member of the Executive Committee since Autumn 2017.

A photograph of a person licking the earth in the shape of an ice cream taken by an eighteen-year-old Icelandic girl, Íris Lilja Jóhannsdóttir, has won the youth prize in the European Environment Agency's competition Young Reporters for the Environment and the youth prize in the Climate Change PIX competition.

An international conference on bioremediation (biological cleanup) of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems of the Arctic coast was held in Moscow. The event was attended by leading scientists from Russia, Canada, the USA and Finland in the field of remediation of contaminated soil and water bodies. The discussion was held as part of the plan of major events in connection with the Russian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, operated by the Roscongress Foundation.
Arctic Council to Consider the Revised Concept of the International “Children of the Arctic" Project

Entrepreneurs, creators, volunteers, activists, ethno and travel bloggers from different regions and countries will discuss environmental issues, urbanism, volunteer development, etc. and develop breakthrough projects at the Arctic Council Young Leaders Forum "ICE: Inspiration. Communication. Efforts", which will be held on December 6 - 9 in Siberia (in Salekhard city, Yamal). Registration for the Forum has been extended until 31 October 2021.

Arctic Circle proudly reported that the 2021 Assembly was completely Covid19 free. With over 1400 participants from over 50 countries, continuous testing ensured a completely Covid-free Assembly.

The Arctic Circle Assembly, the largest annual international gathering on the Arctic, will take place in Reykjavík, October 14-17. This will also be the first big multi- sectorial gathering in Europe to take place since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Over 400 speakers will address more than 100 sessions. Attendance will exceed 1000 participants coming from 50 different countries.
